THE SKATER
The development of the skater is the whole purpose for the existence of the club, the coach and SKATE CANADA. The skater's responsibility is to make the most of the resources put before them. The best way for them to do this is to adhere to the necessary basic rules of courtesy during all skating related activities. Every skater has the duty to show respect for the other skaters and their parents, the volunteers, the coaches and the evaluators.
THE PARENT
Parents are the backbone of every club. They are vital to the success of any club. The skating parent's role is to provide physical, emotional and financial support. Your skater will need you to show an interest in their progress, as well as giving encouragement when times are difficult. You help shape your child's attitudes, how they cope with success or failure, how they relate to other skaters and how they react to criticism. Most importantly, enjoy being involved in skating. Find out where help is needed and offer to assist. You will quickly find that when working with THEM - THEY become WE. We are truly part of this club and nothing positive comes from sitting on the outside complaining about what THEY do or do not do. GET INVOLVED!
THE COACH
SKATE CANADA is a firm believer in the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). Every coach registered with the SKATE CANADA is, at minimum, a level one certified coach. The NCCP is a five level educational program for coaches and includes general theory as well as sport specific technical and practical components.
SKATE MIDLAND
Is a member of SKATE CANADA. With the exception of coaches, the people who run the club are volunteers. Become acquainted with your executive. They can help answer many questions and concerns.
