CANSKATE
This is a 60 minute program, offered twice weekly for children with beginning skating skills.
The purpose of the CANSKATE program is to teach the basics of skating.
There are six fundamental movements: go forward, go backward, stop, turn, spin and jump. For each movement there are seven stages of learning: balance, glide forward, glide backward, edges, power, speed, pre-preliminary (optional). This is a flexible, simple program in which the skater’s progress flows from skill to skill and stage to stage.
It is based on group instruction provided by certified coaches aided by volunteer program assistants.

Skaters develop balance, power and endurance.
